| Founded
in Marrakech into 1064, Qoubba Almoravide constitutes the last
vestige of Almoravides and one of the most beautiful examples
of their architecture. Also called " Qoubba Al Bouaadiyyin
", it consists of two sets: the qoubba, and the fountain.
Qoubba means " cupola "; it was the center of ablution
for believing going to the mosque, and was built starting from
stone of Guéliz, of straw and to lime, it testifies to
the refined art of Almoravide.
The complex was one of
the first fountains of the city and thus ensured the supply water
of the population and their animals.
The three fountains and the center of ablution were fed by a system
of underground galleries, called " will khettaras "
in Arabic, which finished in a cistern from where interior bronze
pipings brought water to the basins; they had a significant drinkable
water tank. This monument is also characterized by its arches
finely engraved and its ceiling, which refers of this site of
the dynasty of the almoravides.
Qoubba Almoravide is located opposite
the entry of the mosque Ben Youssef and with a few meters of the
Museum of Marrakech. It is open tous.les.jours from 9.00 to 18.30
hours, and the price of its entry is of 10 DH.
