They
were used formerly to put in things of value because there was
neither cupboard for storing personal furniture nor banks to conserve
jewels and money. The shapes of boxes changed since, and they
became decoration objects only, especially in bed room interior.
Valuable and original,
generally high quality wood or silver based objects; boxes enrich
Moroccan craft industry, require artist fineness to be carved
and continue to attract women by their different geometrical forms
and drawings.
Boxes are normally sold
at “SNADKIA” souk, but today one can find them at
“SEMMARINE” souk or simply at bazaars.
