Currently inside the city because of
late addition of the district of Sidi- Bel-Abbès, This
door preserved his name which a plausible significance is still
unknown today.
Some thought that it indicates the Berber name of the powder
play: “Tagzùt”; but the “Fantasia”
did not exist at the time of the Almoravide Dynasty, not more
than the powder. However, it is a word which is frequently raised
in the Berber toponymy and which indicates a “depression”,
a “valley”, according to Emile Laoust, a “garden”
or “fractions of tribes”.
One can also talk about a village of
this name in Kitàb At-Tas' àwouf of Ibn Az-zayyat.
May be this Marrakech gate name was taken from this location;
unless it is quite simply the valley of Tensift: an old road,
on the basis of Bab Taghzout, carries out to it in straight
line.
It also is very often called “Bàb Sidi-bel-Abbès”.
This door, being in the centre of the wall and will serve as
a communication between Zawia and the city.
